Reflections From Hewlett Foundation Convening

Earlier this month, EdLoC Entrepreneur-In-Residence and Social Studies Accelerator Founder, Andrea Foggy-Paxton, led a workshop on civic education integration at the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation Education Grantee Convening alongside Louise Dube, CEO of iCivics.

The session emphasized the urgent need to support civic learning, particularly in light of political challenges that hinder progress for students of color.

Andrea highlighted the critical gap in funding, with the federal government spending only 5 cents per student on civic education compared to $50 on STEM. Our Social Studies Accelerator is actively addressing this disparity, working to ensure that civic education is prioritized and well-supported.

Join us in this vital effort to strengthen democracy and empower our youth.
