At last month's ASU+GSV Air Show, Social Studies Accelerator Founder, Andrea Foggy-Paxton, sparked a crucial conversation on equity in the age of generative AI. On her panel, Andrea emphasized the urgent need for educational AI tools that are unbiased and reflective of the diverse communities in our schools, highlighting how these technologies must empower rather than exclude.

At this year's National Council for the Social Studies (NCSS) Annual Conference, we had the pleasure of hosting an insightful session titled "Social Studies Uncut: Undiscovered Next Generation Teaching and Learning Resources." The session accomplished its goal of elevating and amplifying content creators who are dispelling current narratives by exhibiting curriculum that celebrates the fullness and diversity of social studies.

Back in October, we hosted an insightful panel discussion titled "Lessons Learned About Education Markets: Scaling Your Impact." The session featured three innovative education solution providers from our recently completed Content Creator Learning Lab - Karen Umemoto from the UCLA Asian-American Studies Center, Steph Manuel from TrueFikition, and Emily Goulding from Amplifier.

The Accelerator, in partnership with EdSolutions, has launched our first Learning Lab this month: the Content Creator Markets Matter (C2M2) Cohort! We are thrilled to introduce our inaugural participants, who are ensuring students and educators nationwide have the tools and services necessary to engage in our nation’s rich and diverse history.

Our MainStage panel at Education Leaders of Color’s national convening discussed demands for this work nationwide, despite concerns about political censorship of honest, inclusive books and curriculum in our schools.

In partnership with Digital Promise, we brought together diverse, future-forward social studies content providers that embody cultural relevance and reflect students’ histories and experiences to showcase their offerings to districts and educators across the country. Participants heard from students about the need for cultural inclusivity in the classroom.

In partnership with TNTP we offered an opportunity for district leaders to learn more about the identification, design, and implementation of culturally responsive and sustaining social studies education. This session was held for invited content providers to help create an action-plan to reduce the barriers for teachers to teach culturally responsive social studies. Over a dozen organizations were present to understand and align on what is causing feat for teachers and preventing them from teaching culturally responsive and sustaining curriculum
